Good Morning, Got the w1228 on a 2950 and just looking over my options. Some places say to update the firmware and it might take care of false positives for failed batteries. I have a VERY old firmware installed on both the integrated 6i and the 6e that connects to a md1000. Both batteries said they are failed through OpenManage. My question is is do I need to do any kind of hard drive firmware updates that i see on the download page for the perc firmware or can I just run the update through windows and it should do what its 'supposed' to do?
Jan 02, 2013 DELL-Utility DELL SAS/SATA Hard Drive Firmware Utility Release Date: 3/14/2013 Version: A43 SAS/SATA Hard Drive Firmware Utility link http://downloads.dell.
All drives, both in the server and in the MD1000 are showing as optimal, all of which are Dell OEM drives for these systems. Another thing is should I just replace the batteries like it says?! Thanks so much. Djr357, What you will need to do is start by updating the controller. Out of date controller firmware can cause false battery errors to be reported. If after the update the error remains then it is likely that the battery may be failing.
Also, due to you stating that the controller is really far back, you will have to walk the driver and the firmware up in steps simultaneously. So essentially you have to run prior updates for both driver and firmware and work your way to the current updates. If you let me know the OS on the server I can give you the links needed. Let me know..

Let me know.. Chris @ Dell wrote: NU209 is the 6/i battery, where F07FP is the 6e battery. So you will do both 6.2, both 6.3 and then both 6.3.3 6i firmware 6.2.
6e firmware 6.2 - 6i firmware 6.3 - 6e firmware 6.3 - 6i firmware 6.3.3 - 6e firmware 6.3.3 - Obviously you are the expert here Chris, but are you sure about that part# for a 6/E battery? Every website I can find says the part # is M164C. The few websites that list F07FP show it as a 6/i battery and it does not have the rails on either side of it.
Hi, I have a Windows 2008 x64 server. If I open Dell Server Administrator it tells me that the Perc H200 Integrated controller firmware needs update, Ok, so I go to the dell support site and download the Windows installer package.
This fails with 'incompatible' error (I presume it is because I am trying to install on Windows x64). Ok, so I get hold of a 2GB memory stick and install Dell Diagnostics 32bit and copy the Perc Hard disk files to the USB key. I then boot from the USB key and quit to command prompt.
I navigate to the PERC flash.bat and execute. The message is 'No compatible 6Gbps controllers found' or something like that. How do I get this upgraded? Hi, Thanks for your help. The link enabled me to upgrade the h200 firmware but this still hasn't fixed the issue with the noisy fan. I have searched high and low and some people have reported that upgrading the iDRAC controller firmware and BIOS fixed it for them. I have both on the latest version and FAN #4 is still running at 14,000RPM.
Have help would be appreciated. I have tried upgrading / downgrading the firmware. Removing the iDRAC card and updating the BCM. Nothing works.
Thanks, Kevin. As I said, updating the PERC firmware is not going to help the fan issue. Are all of your fans running at a 'normal' speed?
If not, then it is normal for the fans to speed up to make up for a failing fan. Is the cover on your server? If not on and completely latched, it is normal for the fans to speed up. Reseat all your fans. Swap the fan with another.
What hardware to you have in your server? RAID controller? How many drives? Expansion cards? Are all parts original Dell parts that came with this server? Has the server always done this?
If not, when did it start, and did it correlate with any system or hardware updates/upgrades?
